In reality, no one gets a chance to reflect as often as they should thanks to the fast-paced nature of business and the World in general. This, in turn, pushes us into making speedy decisions on the go without having the chance to think them through properly.
Reflection is key
Whilst reflecting on things does allow us to see what went wrong (and work on this), it also helps to set us up for further success. As well as acting as a way to make improvements within a business, it can help to bring clarity and enable us to work out which goals are most important to us and our business. This time and space will also serve as an opportunity to conjure up fresh ideas, by giving our minds room to breathe and to think creatively.
Taking even some short time away from your desk can kickstart some reflection time, so if you are struggling to remember the last time you took some proper time out to reflect, perhaps consider booking in some time to do so in the near future.
You can do this either as an individual or with your team if you feel that this could be more beneficial to the productivity of the business. Sometimes, facilitated discussions can be a great way to come up with new ideas as well as providing an opportunity for team building.
